The geothermal energy is the heat that comes from within the earth. Extremely high temperatures are continuously produced inside the earth. The heat from below the earth’s surface can be used to create electricity.
The geothermal energy it has some disadvantages and one of them is that it affect land stability in the surrounding region which can cause earth quakes in the future. It also costs a large amount of money just to start a geothermal plant.
However on the other hand the geothermal has so many advantages it is much safer for the surrounding environment. It is also sustainable sours of energy since the hot water that been used in the geothermal process can be re-injected into the ground to produce more steam. Plus the geothermal power plants are unaffected by changing weather conditions.
Iceland is one of the countries that use the geothermal energy. It is situated in an area with a high concentration of volcanoes, making it an ideal location for generating geothermal energy. Almost 1/5 of Iceland the electrical energy is generated from geothermal sources. And they mainly depend on the geothermal energy for generating heat.
